Carleton Virtual Breakfast Club: An Enriching Path from Carleton Geo to Beavers in the Arctic with Ken Tape '99

Ken Tape '99 has been studying climate change and its effects on the Arctic environment since he graduated from Carleton having majored in geology. He is drawn to the interactions between different parts of the Arctic ecosystem, how climate change is cascading through this system, and how these changes are viewed through the lens of wildlife. For the last decade, his research has explored the drivers and consequences of beaver engineering as they rapidly colonize and transform tundra streams. Ken's fieldwork expeditions and pursuit of landscape photography are complementary approaches for understanding remote corners of the Arctic. His presentation offers a braided visual and scientific portrait of a changing Arctic landscape and its inhabitants.
