LTC Lunch - Learing and Teaching in a Device-Free, Assignment-Free Course
In this session, students and the instructor of EDUC 275: Theories and Practices of Educational Justice will reflect on their learning and teaching experiences in this new course where the classroom space was free of devices and focused mainly on relatively unstructured discussions of the course materials. The course also used self-reflection from the students on their preparation and participation as the main form of assessment. The students and the instructor will reflect on how this format impacted how they engaged with the materials and each other. Panelists will also reflect on the content of the course, which focused on critiques of liberal frameworks of educational equity by Indigenous scholars and scholars of color and asked students to imagine educational justice might look like beyond representation and belonging, especially in higher educational institutions.
