LTC Lunch Jan 11, 2022 Getting Started with QRE

What does “quantitative reasoning” mean at Carleton? What counts as a QRE course? What’s the difference between QR and math? In this session, Quantitative Resource Center director Lin Winton will talk about what QR is and isn’t, how Carleton’s QuIRK initiative established us as a national leader in teaching QR, and how we can all help carry this work forward. To illustrate the wide range of how QR can be taught, an interdisciplinary panel of faculty from across the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences will present about their QRE courses. Pamela Feldman-Savelsberg, Professor of Anthropology Susannah Ottaway, Laird Bell Professor of History Lin Winton, Director of the Quantitative Resource Center, Lecturer in Biology
