LTC: Students' Writing, Students' Identities (April 15)

Carleton faculty and staff have spent much time thinking about writing in relation to the curriculum, and about how to support students in becoming strong, critical writers. However, the process of adapting to the expectations of academic discourse communities can destabilize students’ identities and leave them feeling alienated. This LTC  session explores the relationship between a student’s identity/identities and the writing (s)he is asked to produce. What can we do to facilitate the challenging emotional and intellectual journeys students must take to fulfill the expectations Carleton places on them as writers? Students are welcome to attend.
