LTC Lunch: Faculty-Student Research Collaborations: New Methods and Models in the Humanities and Social Sciences

While undergraduate research opportunities have long been common in the sciences, student research in the humanities and social sciences is a more recent and, some would say, challenging endeavor. After a brief description of student research supported by the Humanities Center, we will explore three models for collaborative faculty-student research: Palmar Alvarez-Blanco and Anthony Harb ’15 will share their work on the recent Brieva exhibition; Clara Hardy will describe the innovative Humanities Lab she directed in August 2014, and George Vrtis will discuss how his students contributed to his Minnesota Environments web-based and mobile environmental history app in Fall 2014. Palmar Alvarez-Blanco, associate professor of Spanish; Clara Hardy, professor of classical languages; George Vrtis, associate professor of environmental studies and history; Anthony Harb ’16; Sahree Kasper ’16
