Vern: A Very Short Film Tribute

A silent, black & white homage to Vern. With subtitles. Some of it is in French, too. There’s a flashback scene, political references, a stunning historical photo, amazing special effects, and dazzling hand-drawn 2D animation. And all this high-brow entertainment somehow fits into a little two-minute pearl of a film. (A littIe background info for the uninitiated: I drew a comic strip in the ’Tonian called "Ralph ’n’ Vern" between 1988 and 1991. The naming of the main character, Vern, had nothing to do with Vern Bailey. The Vern in my strip was a lumbering, clueless oaf, pretty much the antithesis of the real Vern, who remains my all-time favorite Carleton professor.)
