Making Relatives: Plants, Trees, and Water: Indigenous Elder in Residence Discussion

As Ms. Ida Downwind returns to Carleton College, she will build on her January visit, this time introducing Carleton faculty, staff, and students to Indigenous ways of Making Relatives with Plants, Trees, and Water. This will be an informal public event with a brief presentation by Ida along with facilitated group discussions of how Indigenous values align with the teachings shared around plants. Traditional medicinal teas and hors d'oeuvres will be served. Subsequent visits and discussions with other invited experts are forthcoming; those perspectives and areas of expertise will complement and build upon Ida's introductions.
