Bill Freedman As we approach our 50th reunion, Bill Freedman asks, “what will your legacy be for future Carls?”  “We began our careers in an era of unbelievable opportunity,” Freedman says. “For those of us who are in our 60s and 70s, our parents grew up in a world where their horizons were, at best, limited. That has not been the case for us. We’ve lived our adult lives in a time of unprecedented possibilities and wealth. The next generation might not have that—and we can bridge that gap. “I came to Carleton thanks to financial aid,” he says. “Someone before my time made a legacy gift, not knowing who I was, and it made all the difference for me.” Freedman believes that even though he was “woefully underprepared” for Carleton, he scrapped by only thanks to friends and professors who were dedicated to helping him through. He learned how extremely generous and how deeply invested Carls are when it comes to helping peers succeed. Read more about Bill Freedman
