Convocation: Susannah Morgan ’91

Susannah Morgan ’91 has spent her entire professional life in the nonprofit sector. Her time at Carleton not only fostered her passion for social justice, but also a drive for data and depth – for basing her anti-hunger work on the best information available and logical arguments. Morgan recognizes that America has a hunger problem, and with food prices rising around the globe, hunger will only get worse. As the Executive Director of Food Bank of Alaska, she has doubled its annual food distribution and founded numerous innovative projects, such as Alaska’s first Mobile Food Pantry. She is particularly known for her leadership in collaborative anti-hunger projects and participates actively in the national anti-hunger movement as well. Her convocation presentation, titled "Fighting Hunger in America," explored the faces and facts of hunger in America based on the most current research, delving into what we know and don’t know about why so many people are hungry in the richest country in the world.
