Mark Applebaum, Carleton ’89, member of the Board of Trustees, and Stanford University Professor of Music, presents an hourlong lecture-recital in which he performs jazz tunes on the piano and explains—demystifies—what it is that jazz musicians are thinking when they improvise. And to elucidate collective ensemble improvisation he will be joined by contrabassist Joe Weismann ’90 and violinist Marc Walwyn ’89 during Reunion 2024
