Carleton Virtual Breakfast Club: Today’s College Student Mental Health Crisis in Context with Sharon Mitchell ’84

With dedication to collegiate mental health and wellness, Sharon Mitchell ’84 has transformed college counseling practices and improved the lives of thousands of students. Sharon will discuss current trends in college student mental health, including the narrative that today’s students are in a state of emotional crisis. She will discuss how the work of college counseling centers and the mental health needs of college students have evolved in response to sociocultural factors. She will also offer strategies for developing a wellness-promoting college campus that empowers student to embrace personal wellness as fundamental to success at college and beyond.
