Carleton Virtual Breakfast Club: Black History in Los Angeles with Janae D. Green '10

Janae D. Green '10 has long been captivated by the stories of Black Los Angeles—stories of resilience, triumph, and cultural transformation. As the founder and historian of A Great Day in South LA, a Black History tour company in Los Angeles, Janae has spent years studying the neighborhoods and landmarks that define Black history in LA. In this presentation, she will explore the profound contributions of Black communities to the city’s cultural, political, and social fabric. These are not just historical moments—they are living, breathing legacies that continue to shape the city today. Janae will share powerful narratives that define Black history in LA, reflecting on how these stories continue to inspire change and progress. Through her work leading tours, she has fostered a deeper connection to this legacy, helping participants reflect on their own roles in shaping the future of Los Angeles.
